Skechers saw 8,500 registrations for its 3km, 5km, and 10km walk at MMRDA grounds in Mumbai’s BKC area, the brand announced in a press release on Sunday. The event was designed to build the brand’s community in the city and reaffirm its commitment to healthy living.

“The Skechers Mumbai Walkathon has become one of the most anticipated fitness events in the city since its commencement,” said Skechers South Asia’s CEO Rahul Vira in a press release. “We were delighted to have additional commissioner of Police, Mr. Vishwas Nangare Patil, Kriti Sanon, Siddhanth Chaturvedi and Priyanka Goswami join us as we promote walking as a simple yet exciting way to stay fit. We are confident that the event will inspire many more people to adopt walking as part of their fitness regime.”

Mumbai Police’s joint commissioner Vishwas Nangare Patil attended the event as a special guest and a number of live performances also took place. Skechers, which retails a wide array of sneakers and casual footwear in India, is building its reputation in the country as tied to promoting health, exercise, and well-rounded living.

“What Skechers is trying to and has accomplished through their Walkathons is simply brilliant,” said Sanon. “Motivating citizens to lead a more active lifestyle, the Skechers Mumbai Walkathon has been a huge success in recent years, and I was confident that this year's edition would be even bigger and better. The overwhelming participation we witnessed was truly heartwarming.”

“I am a staunch believer in having a fitness regime that coexists with my life and doesn’t feel like an added effort,” said Chaturvedi in a press release. “Walking and going outdoors not only makes me feel alive but is also exhilarating. And this is what Skechers is all about—making shoes that make you want to head out—and the Walkathon is an initiative to walk for the collective good of society.”
