Siddartha Tytler finds beauty in darkness with 'Cult' at LMIFW
Siddartha Tytler showcased his latest menswear and womenswear collection digitally on day two of Lotus Makeup India Fashion Week, with dark opulence, hints of androgyny, and lashings of glitter.
By day two of the Fashion Design Council of India’s first digital edition of LMIFW, two distinct themes were already beginning to arise. Many brands have either taken the route of dark and challenging collections or whimsically romantic ones. Siddartha Tytler chose to find beauty in the darkness with his latest collection, ‘Cult’, and presented a range of gothic-glamour fusion wear.
With a colour palette of black, grey, and silver and backdrop resembling a graffitied, crumbling car park, Siddartha Tytler’s models walked the runway in graphic black face paint and glittery face harnesses. As the show progressed, models wore increasingly dramatic headdresses with black lace, more glitter, feathers, and black roses for a romantic, gothic touch.
Metallic brocade was a big part of the collection with both traditional and western style suits for men and lehengas and gowns for women. Brocade was given a vintage look in some outfits with large floral designs and a more futuristic look in others with prominent zips and geometric patterns. The styling was highly dramatic, but the garments in the collection were decidedly wearable and a number of metallic jackets stood out for their day-to-night versatility.
Designer Siddartha Tytler’s eponymous brand is based in New Delhi and retails from its dedicated e-commerce store, as well as multi-brand e-commerce and brick-and-mortar stores. The brand’s flagship store is located in New Delhi.
