Shyamal & Bhumika showcase global glamour with Yami Gautam at FDCI x Lakme Fashion Week

Womenswear brand Shyamal & Bhumika presented new collection ‘Blooms of Paradise’ on the final day of Lakme Fashion Week in partnership with the Fashion Design Council of India. The runway show featured delicate embroidery and a global aesthetic. 

On Sunday, Shyamal & Bhumika showcased lehengas, kurta sets, and sarees with subtle crystal, beaded, and sequin embellishments. The collection had a colour palette of sage green, emerald, midnight blue, baby blue, and extremely light pink and contrasted swathes of plain, floaty fabric with areas of rich, tactile embroidery to make for striking yet paired-down looks.  
 
Bollywood actress Yami Gautam closed the show wearing a light blush pink lehenga, covered in hundreds of tiny, textured embroidered flowers. Paired with a jewel encrusted bodice and chiffon shawl, the look was delicate and ethereal yet youthful and modern. 

“Shyamal & Bhumika's collection celebrates their globe-trotting muse, using a poetic blend of hand-embroidered masterpieces, designed using age-old craft techniques in an unusual mix of colours and silhouettes,” the FDCI announced on Facebook as it broadcast the phygital showcase. “Encouraged by a cheerful mood this festive season the designers have sought inspiration from nature, our history and traditions, ancient architecture, splendour of the royal courts, museums, rare private collectors and antique markets.”
 
Lakme Fashion Week in partnership with the FDCI ran from October 12 to 16 at Mumbai’s Jio World Convention Centre. The fashion week mixed joint showcases for up-and-coming designers with design contests, a business-to-customer sale, and sustainable initiatives this season while mixing physical shows with digital broadcasts.
