Shoptiques.com announced on Wednesday the signing of its 5,000th store, making it the world’s largest online boutique marketplace.

The New York-based company, launched in 2012, allows consumers to shop local boutiques online from all around the world. The global company currently partners with boutiques in shopping capitals such as Paris, London, and New York as well as mom-and-pop shops in small towns across the U.S., U.K., France, and Canada.

“Growth is vital for our business. But we’re also discerning about which boutiques we bring on board,” explains founder and CEO Olga Vidisheva, in a news statement.

All stores must apply to be a part of Shoptiques.com’s marketplace. Applicants are interviewed and only about 20 percent make the cut.

“That’s why we’re so proud of signing our 5,000th boutique,” says Vidisheva. “We are looking for quality merchandise that our customers won’t be able to find anywhere else.”

Shae’s Runway in Inlet Beach, Florida, was Shoptiques.com’s lucky 5000th store.

Their platform allows boutiques to do all of their ecommerce, email marketing, and inventory management through the site. It offers web hosting for boutiques and a mobile app for customers.

Jared Tatanish, the owner of Shae’s Runway explains in a news statement: “I joined to gain access to a customer base outside of my local market and increase sales.”

In essence, they are helping brick-and-mortar boutiques who don’t know how to work e-commerce.

Shoptiques.com initially went live with just 25 boutiques. They plan to expand to four more countries this spring.
