Shoppers Stop enters northeast market with store in Guwahati

Indian fashion retail chain Shoppers Stop has strengthened its retail presence by entering the northeast market with the opening of its first store in the city of Guwahati, Assam.

The new store is located at the City Centre mall and spread over an area of 44,000 square feet across three floors. The store will house a wide variety of merchandise across categories including Shoppers Stop private label brands like Stop, Life, Vettorio Fratini, Fratini Woman, Haute Curry, and Kashish.
 
Commenting on the store opening, Uma Talreja chief marketing officer at Shoppers Stop in a statement said, “The northeast has been a market that was missing from our coverage and we think there is a good fit between our offering and the consumers in Guwahati. It is a young market and we want to make sure we give enough reasons for our consumers to visit us and get an international experience with the best brands and services at our store.”

Shoppers Stop is now focusing on tier 2, 3 cities in India to drive the next phase of growth and will be further expanding in these cities in the coming months.
 
Shoppers Stop currently has 84 stores spread across 40 cities in the country. For the financial year 2018-19, Shoppers Stop had reported a net profit of Rs 79 crore ($11.4 million) with revenue of Rs 3,499 crore.
