Shoppers Stop appoints Venugopal Nair as its new managing director and CEO

Shoppers Stop has named Venugopal Nair as its new managing director and chief executive officer of the company for a period of three years, effective November 6, 2020.

Nair replaces Rajiv Suri, who announced his exit from Shoppers Stop after a two-year stint citing personal reasons.
Commenting on the appointment, BS Nagesh, chairman of Shoppers Stop Ltd, in a statement said: “I am delighted to welcome Venu as managing director and CEO. Venu has an exceptional leadership track record, strong international exposure, deep strategic expertise, and proven experience of driving transformation and managing technological disruption, which is the need of the hour. We believe that Venu is the right person to lead Shoppers in this critical phase and its next phase of growth.”
Nair is currently working as CEO of Westside at Trent Limited. He has over 27 years of experience in the retail & apparel industry across South Asia and Europe. Prior to Westside, Nair was the managing director of Marks & Spencer Reliance.
Omni-channel retailer Shoppers Stop’s product selection includes clothing, footwear, accessories, watches, and makeup. Shoppers Stop reported revenue totalling Rs 3, 380.98 crore ($508.2 million) in the 2020 financial year which ended in March.
