Shopmatic’s new “Inspiring Entrepreneurship Program” aims to connect the business to a new wave of Indian e-commerce businesses, including in the fashion and beauty sections of the market. As part of the program, the business will be providing the technology needed to sell online for an offer price of one dollar for three months.

“There are many aspiring entrepreneurs in India who have an idea, an ability to build beautiful products and intend to make a business by selling online,” said the business’ Cofounder and CEO, Anurag Avula. “We have removed the complexity from ecommerce by eliminating the technological barriers that these entrepreneurs may have."

The business has stated that it foresees a new wave of business owners, especially designers, artisans, and crafts people, join the site following the launch of this program. Shopmatic has also aligned itself with the Union Government’s “Digital India” initiative which aims to promote domestic online commerce and is also linked to the “Make in India” government initiative that aims to boost domestic production, especially in the garment and textile industries.

It is unsurprising that the company has chosen to focus on India as the country’s e-commerce market as it is one of the country’s swiftest growing industries. A Google-KPMG study has stated that small and medium businesses going online in India are expected to increase India’s gross domestic product (GDP) by up to ten percent by 2020.
