Mar 30, 2020
Shopclues, India’s leading e-commerce platform, has started selling essential items on its platform amid the 21-day lockdown imposed in the country to fight the coronavirus pandemic.
The e-tailer will start selling food items, medicines, and medical equipment to its customers located across the country. Essentials such as sanitizers, masks, packaged foods, groceries, and personal hygiene products will be available for purchase on its platform.
“In this time of need, we want to use our platform that has a vast reach across tier 2, 3 and 4 cities of India to be able to buy these essential items from our portal. Further to the Prime minister’s assurance that essentials will continue to be available during these difficult times, we want people to stop panicking and have access to these items. Please stay indoors. Stay safe and let us reach you,” in a statement said Sanjay Sethi, CEO of Shopclues.
People across the world have turned to online retailers to buy household goods, food and medicines as countries impose measures to try to contain the virus outbreak.
In India, after some initial confusion and suspension of e-commerce activities, the services for essential products have resumed after receiving federal and state government assurances on the safety of its delivery staff and a hassle-free supply chain.
