Shop Qatar’s Design District is running in Doha until January 12 and is part of Qatar’s 2019 cultural partnership with India, sponsored by Qatar Airways. The eight day shopping event brings a host of luxury brands over from India and is a unique opportunity for Doha’s shoppers to buy from their favourite desi designers.

Alongside pop-up shops in the convention centre, events and activities are also taking place as part of Design District. Fashion shows, masterclasses, workshops, and talks will take place until January 12. The event kicked off with an opening ceremony attended by Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive and Qatar National Tourism Council’s member of the board Akbar al-Baker, Hassan al-Ibrahim from QNTC, Abu Issa Holdings’ chairman and CEO Ashraf Abu Issa, and Indian ambassador P Kumaran.

Other special features include an interactive “Fashion Meets Art” exhibition, beauty section, and home décor section. Fashion shows by Indian designers Tarun Tahiliani, Raw Mango, Raghavendra Rathore, Namrata Joshipura, and Wendell Rodricks will also take place.

“Whether you are a fashion enthusiast or you are simply seeking a fun time out, you are invited to experience and enjoy the truly unique line-up of indoor and outdoor activities this District offers,” said the QNTC official Mashal Shahbik in a statement as reported by the Gulf Times.
