ShoeKonnect aims to drastically increase its seller base by bringing 50 lakh small businesses onto its platform. The business also aims to use this seller intake to expand its product categories and welcome accessories and apparel businesses, as well as its core base of footwear sellers.

“A shoe retailer in a small city is also selling apparel and accessories,” ShoeKonnect’s co-founder and CEO Siddharth Vij told ET Tech. “There is no reason why we should limit our offering when our product is well equipped at the technological level to offer more services.”

The business received a funding injection of Rs 3 crore ($500,000) from Naukri.com (Info Edge India) and plans to use the funds to expand its network across India, FashionNetwork.com reported in April. The business has also tied up with footwear manufacturers including Action, Campus, and Columbus to retail on its platform.

ShoeKonnect was founded in 2014 by three graduates of Delhi University, Siddharth Vij, Chaitanya Rathi, and Siddharth Rastogi, and was later joined by Shubham Agrawal, the fourth co-founder.

The business aims to eliminate wholesalers and middlemen from the retail chain by working directly with small businesses with a focus on local footwear brands.
