Shivan and Narresh’s first couture showcase was broadcast on its Instagram page on Wednesday and presented 17 modern yet opulent looks designed to work for day and night, the brand announced in a press release. The brand collaborated with six artists for the fashion film and each artist positioned themselves at the side of the stage and worked on a life drawing of the models perched on podiums as others walked by in a flurry of glitter and subtly shining textiles.

“Couture for us is synonymous to reinventing restraint glamour with innovative techniques and distinctive silhouettes that are different from our celebration offerings as part of the ready to wear category,” said the brand’s creative director Narresh Kukreja in a press release.

“Gone are the days when bride and grooms looked like centrepieces at their own wedding function in voluminous skirts and opulent outfits. This is a conversation we as designers wanted to start with our couture - replacing maximalism with subtle elegance, functionality and refinement of textiles brought to the forefront of Indian fashion.”

The collection featured looks for both men and women with gowns, sherwanis, and sets. Designed as wearable art, the collection’s bold colour palette of white, red, and black made a strong, modern statement. Textiles included silk jerseys, fine silk organzas, silk gazar, and handcrafted silk yarns in delicate knits and surface embroideries and abstract motifs added a theatrical touch.

“Illustrating our signature Skein work that takes almost 250 to 400 man hours for hand-crafting a single piece- each ensemble is a unique mélange of intricate detailing, innovative techniques and gemstone hues that arouse unique emotions and shared ideas amongst an inclusive fashion community,” said brand head Shivan Bhatiya.

“We want to nurture a culture where 'we are all beautiful' and can express freely through the fashion of our choice. This collection is thus ideal for the bride and groom of today who want to equally enjoy intimate celebrations while making a bold style statement.”
