Shivan & Narresh explore the soul of Seoul at LMIFW

Shivan & Narresh showcased “Seoul Series”, its spring/ summer 2020 collection, on the runway on day four of Lotus Makeup India Fashion Week in New Delhi inspired by modern art and the South Korean city of Seoul. 

This season, Shivan & Narresh were inspired by South Korea and a number of contemporary artists to create a bright and eclectic men’s and womenswear collection. Prints, swimwear, and floaty dresses had the resort feel the brand has become known for but metallic puffer jackets and PVC textiles added a more experimental element. 

The brand was inspired by art found in the Museum of Contemporary Modern Art, Korea, it posted on its Facebook page. The “Alternative Languages” exhibition at the museum featuring work by Danish artist and social activist Asger Jorn was a major inspiration as was the work of Korean painter Park Seo Bo.

The collection’s colour palette was also inspired by colours found in South Korea, “Gyum” bright yellow, “Akua” aquatic blue, “Hyan” off-white, and “Ruby” red. Prints including “Mujigay”, “Seoul Soul”, “Kurt”, “Hututi”, and “Morning Calm”, also took their inspiration from artists with varying styles but a similar love of colour. 

Lotus Makeup India Fashion Week ran from October 9 to 13 at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium at India Gate in New Delhi. The fashion week runs twice a year and is organised by the Fashion Design Council of India. This season, the fashion week’s theme was “My Fashion My Tribe”.
