“I founded Raw Mango to celebrate the magnificent textile history of India through its rich motifs, colours, and narratives in the contemporary world of today,” said Garg at the store opening event, according to a press release. “I’ve always believed that the crafts essayed in a garment are the real heroes. For me, fashion is a socio-economic medium that we will continue to highlight through our collections.”

The store opened with an event that saw a mix of guests from Bengaluru’s fashion, art, and film industries come together accompanied by music from the folk artist Vasu Dixit. Other guests included Shraddha Srinath, Pranitha Subhash, Annabelle Manwaring, and Malika Kashyap among others.

Measuring 1,800 square feet, the flagship store is full of natural light and has an old-world inspired design. Raw Mango’s selection of sarees, garments, bridal wear, and textiles all feature in the space that has hints of South Indian temple designs.

The interiors were created by Garg’s in-house team in collaboration with Adityan Melekalam of Squadron 14. Planning and layout was conceptualised with Sandeep Khosla Design Studio.

Sanjay Garg launched Raw Mango in 2008 and proceeded to open a flagship store in New Delhi in 2011 and then one in Mumbai in 2017.
