Clove is situated on Allana Road in Mumbai’s Colaba district, an area becoming increasingly trendy for boutiques. According to Nair, the store is “reminiscent of an earthy India” whilst also having European influences and clothing, accessories, and lifestyle products can be found in store from a variety of Indian designers.

Some of the brands featured in the boutique include Dandelion luxury sleepwear, Ikka Dukka homeware, Anavila, and Nimish Shah. There is also a cosmetics and wellness section of the boutique which houses brands including Pure Earth, Bare Necessities, and Junaili. Nair also said that having Ayurvedic beauty products in the boutique is her way of showcasing India to foreign shoppers as she feels they offer something different to most foreign brands.

The store’s interior design is integral to Nair’s concept and she asked Zameer Basrai from the Busride Design Studio to take the helm and give the space a European atmosphere. Nair wanted to create a store where shoppers can browse at their leisure. “With retail in India, you come in, you shop and you leave. In Europe, you can go into smaller places that are well decorated and you can sort of wander,” said Nair. With the idea of the concept store becoming increasingly popular in India’s metros, Nair’s idea of slowly perusing shops could become a shopping norm.
