Sabyasachi opens first flagship jewellery store in Mumbai

Fashion designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee opened his first ever flagship store dedicated to jewellery in Kala Ghoda, Mumbai, on October 22.
The opening comes two years after the brand launched its dedicated jewellery line in 2017.
The store is situated in Ador House in Mumbai’s Kala Ghoda district and resembles a mix between a regal town house and a museum. Mukherjee’s fine jewellery designs are displayed amongst an extensive collection of antiques including chandeliers, porcelain statues, and furniture from around the world. The eclectic interior design compliments Mukherjee’s modern take on heritage jewellery designs.
“I started designing jewellery with the conviction that I could bring great value, transparency and a sense of pride into the existing jewellery business in India,” wrote Mukherjee on his brand’s Facebook page. “The prerogative was to keep tradition, workmanship and quality alive… it is a moment of personal pride for me ever since I started my career as a jeweller, peddling costume jewellery in plastic tiffin boxes to hawkers in Calcutta in my late teens.”
Mukherjee also shared on Facebook that, following the store launch, the brand will prepare to launch its jewellery line “across iconic addresses globally in 2020.” The latest Sabyasachi Heritage Jewellery collection for winter 2019 features brightly coloured stones, statement chokers, and chunky beaded necklaces.
