Sabyasachi Mukherjee partners with Bergdorf Goodman for New York jewellery showcase
Famed traditional wear designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee has partnered with the US luxury department store Bergdorf Goodman and will hold a showcase of his latest fine jewellery collection in New York from January to March.
Sabyasachi Mukherjee will present his “Bengal Royale” fine jewellery collection for the first time in the US at Bergdorf Goodman’s New York department store, the designer announced on Facebook on January 4. As Mukherjee’s eponymous brand gears up to open a flagship store in the US later in the year, it has already begun to build an audience in the country.
Mukherjee’s fine jewellery features statement pieces with multiple charms and rainbow-hued gems. “The 1920s in Calcutta was strong, vibrant, opinionated, and electric. It was a time of writers, poets, artists, and political leaders diverging and converging in dissent about New India,” wrote the brand about its latest collection on Facebook. “European in flavour with a strong nod towards heritage and Mughal history, Bengal Royale is primarily made of rose cut diamonds with a smattering of emeralds, rubies, and pearls.”
The brand created an exclusive campaign for its partnership with Bergdorf Goodman. Photographed by Tarun Khiwal with hair and makeup by Deepa Verma, the campaign mixes Mukherjee’s opulent Indian aesthetics with classic American simplicity.
Mukherjee recently opened a flagship store dedicated to fine jewellery in Kala Ghoda, Mumbai. The store houses his ranges of heritage and fine jewellery for men and women amongst an eclectic collection of antiques.
