Three Indian designers will feature in the group of 20 international designers that have been selected to create masks for this year’s Animal Ball. Designer Anita Dongre has created a mask that is her own take on the elephant, a motif that features heavily in her traditional and fusion wear designs. Sabyasachi Mukherjee revealed to Vogue India that he was inspired by the Royal Bengal tiger for his mask. This also happens to be the logo for Mukherjee’s clothing brand.

Gaurav Gupta recently shared a sketch for his mask on his Instagram, a flamboyant fascinator featuring a flock of humming birds. Gupta chose the bird as his inspiration for the “Humming Bird Infinity Mask” because “the humming bird is a messenger of hope and jubilation,” Gupta wrote on his Instagram.

The Animal Ball is a charity ball organised by the Elephant Family, a charity that works to protect Asian elephants in their natural habitat. Proceeds from the ball will be donated to the Elephant Family charity.

This year, the event will take place at the Royal Residence in London and will be hosted by The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall. The event aims to raise awareness about animal conservation and endangered species.
