Sabyasachi launches fine jewellery in Dubai
Designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee has launched his eponymous jewellery brand in Dubai at multi-brand fine jewellery retailer Bayt Damas, as the brand continues to expand its international presence.
Sabyasachi’s fine jewellery is now available to buy in-store in Dubai, the brand announced on Instagram. The brand selected a collection of its vintage-inspired, opulent Mangalsutras and statement pieces for its first brick-and-mortar retail point in the UAE.
The brand is slowly expanding internationally and held a jewellery showcase at Bergdorf Goodman in New York in 2020, where it sold close to $2.5 million [Rs 16.6 crore] of jewellery during the pop-up, despite disruption caused by the pandemic. The success of this showcase saw the designer invited back in February, 2021 for a much larger scale pop-up which also featured a range of over 250 designs from Sabyasachi’s clothing and accessories lines.
Spring this year also saw Sabyasachi’s deal with Aditya Birla Fashion and Retail finalised with a value of Rs 398 crore. The deal will give the brand substantial backing and enable it to scale up its operations and a much swifter pace.
The brand is having a busy year and also released a collaborative collection with Swedish fast fashion brand on August 12. Although the launch date had to be pushed back due to the pandemic, the collection of floral print sarees and western wear sold out swiftly.
