Sabyasachi announces collaboration with H&M
Designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee has joined forces with fast-fashion retailer H&M and will launch a collaborative collection for both men and women titled 'Sabyasachi x H&M' with the theme “Wanderlust” on April 16.
The luxury traditional and fusion wear designer will release a collection of womenswear, menswear, and accessories with H&M, he announced on January 21. A teaser video released on Facebook showed Mukherjee style models in bright and floral printed textiles from the upcoming collection.
So far, no photos of the garments have been released. The collection will retail from H&M flagship stores across India and select H&M stores worldwide, as well as on H&M’s e-commerce store and with multi-brand online retailer Myntra.
“I am happy to announce the collaboration with H&M, as it gives us the opportunity to spread the Sabyasachi aesthetic to a wider audience in India and worldwide,” said Mukherjee in a statement.
“Having done couture for the majority of my career, it is very exciting to bring that finesse of craft to ‘ready-to-wear’ and create whimsical and fluid silhouettes that bring relaxed sophistication to everyday life.”
“At H&M, we are thrilled to announce our collaboration with iconic Indian designer Sabyasachi, known for his dynamic use of indigenous crafts and textiles - a language so stunning, that it permanently altered the fashion and design landscape of the country,” said H&M’s concept designer at collaborations and special collections, Ella Soccorsi.
Sabyasachi Mukherjee launched his eponymous brand in 1999 in Kolkata. The brand has stepped into 2020 with announcements of a fine jewellery showcase in New York, an upcoming U.S. flagship store, and now an international collaboration.
