The Southern India Mills Association and Fabtex will host Texfair 2019 from August 9 to 12 at the Codissia Trade Fair Complex to promote Indian textile machinery, accessories, and spares to an international market.

The 12th edition of the Texfair trade show will feature 320 stalls for around 250 exhibitors from across India, as well as Europe, Japan, and China. The exhibition will focus on textile machinery, especially on spare parts and accessories. Around 70% of exhibitors will be from Coimbatore.

Ahead of the event, SIMA’s chairman Nataraj told TNN that the current challenges faced by the textile industry mean that mills will be looking to acquire parts to ameliorate current machines instead of buying new machines. The fair will, therefore, have a special focus on spare parts.

Nataraj said that, due to the ongoing trade dispute between the U.S. and China, many Indian mills are suffering. Indian yarn exports to China have been hit hard and around 20% of mills in India are idle, said Nataraj.

“This in turn has led to the fall in yarn export to China from India. In the last quarter, almost 50% of the exports to China had come down,” said Nataraj. “Domestic market has also been suffering because of this as domestic prices have come down.”

The Farm to Finish International Expo 2019 will run concurrently with the Texfair expo from Friday. The exhibition will showcase textiles including cotton, man-made fibre, and blends as well as ready made garments.
