Rucero presents “I Am” at LMIFW with Dia Mirza as showstopper

Rucero presented its autumn/ winter collection “I Am” at Lotus Makeup India Fashion Week and Bollywood celebrity Dia Mirza closed the show in a yellow lehenga set.

Rucero, designed and founded by Ruchi Roongta and Rashi Agarwal, presented a collection of traditional and occasion wear at LMIFW in New Delhi. Models walked the runway in embroidered warm dupattas designed for winter weddings along with quilted lehengas and sarees. 

Textiles included pure silk, silk dupion, organza, and tissue chanderi with hand embroidered quilts. The colour scheme saw brights contrast with neutral hues and Dia Mirza closed the show in a yellow lehenga embellished with flame like glitter and paired with a bronze cropped top woven with embroidered panels made out of Peeta work with burnt and treated dabka and Salma. 

“With the collection ‘I am', we celebrate the power of the ordinary woman,” said Roongta and Agarwal in the brand’s press release. “The idea was developed as an antidote to the superficial societal stereotypes about the perfect body type and the perfect complexion. Women are constantly burdened with unrealistic standards of beauty. In this collection, we've portrayed the beauty in our everyday lives and we hope this will inspire one and all to look beyond such shallow parameters and appreciate the real beauty that lies within us. The fabric, the design, the overall appearance, is crafted in a way that combines comfort with beauty.”

Ruceru was launched in 2011 by sisters Ruchi Roongta and Rashi Agarwal as a fusion wear brand for urban women. The brand specialises in creative surface development techniques and 3D flower embroideries.  

LMIFW was organised by the Fashion Design Council of India and ran from March 13 to 16 at the Jawaharlal Stadium in the capital. The fashion week runs twice a year.
