Rohit Kamra’s runway show took place as part of the “men’s show” section of day two of AIFW which began on March 14 and is currently running in the capital until March 18 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. Kamra’s latest collection was a modern, smart take on traditional wear from around Jaipur where his brand is based and garments such as jodhpurs, knee length coats, and waistcoats gave a true North Indian flavour.

The collection was almost entirely in black, brown, and navy blue with accents provided by some lighter shirts and gold embroidery. The male models sported slicked back hair, some with long, manicured beards, and wore ankle boots or slim, leather loafers. Most of the looks had an evening wear feel but there were also more casual looks such as a denim high neck jacket. The collection’s real showstoppers were its embroidered velvet jackets and coats which featured regal inspired filigree motifs.

Rohit Kamra is based in Jaipur, Rajasthan, and his menswear designs often reflect the classic silhouettes of the region, interpreted with his own design spin. In Kamra’s own words, his brand reflects the “modern maharaja” within. As well as his own e-commerce store, Kamra also has flagship stores in Jaipur, New Delhi, and Pune.
