Womenswear specialist Ritu Kumar is expanding its homeware collection, RK Home, as shoppers stay indoors, and plans to add collaborations to the subsidiary in June.

“We’re embracing change and constantly trying to adapt to the new consumer behaviour,” Ritu Kumar’s managing director, Amrish Kumar, told the Times of India about plans for RK Home in a recent interview.

RK Home recently launched its latest collection, the brand announced on Facebook. The collection features textiles, cushions, bed-spreads, and other fabrics in rich, ochre tones. The line also features an array of tableware and crockery featuring bohemian, traditional-style prints similar to those found in Ritu Kumar’s latest womenswear collection.

“For RK Home, our aim to reach more and more consumers across different cities,” said Amrish Kumar. “It has received rave reviews and a discerning loyal audience in a short span of time. Taking cues from this success we will be in the licensing space for certain key categories in the home business– the first collaboration will be launched in June.”

Ritu Kumar has also recently launched subsidiary Aarké, which is an affordable take on traditional occasion wear. The brand also launched a new ‘Basics’ line for its Label Ritu Kumar brand, which features minimalist-style lounge wear.

“It’s important to maintain a balance between corporatisation and keeping the core philosophy intact,” said Amrish Kumar about how the brand is juggling its business expansion.
