Ritu Kumar’s first-ever phygital presentation on Thursday saw the designer further push the boundaries of eco-friendly fabrics to create bright, rich tones and retro inspired prints. Kumar used organic soya fabric to create bold printed sarees and more neutral toned textiles to create semi-formal shirt dresses and tunic-style dresses.

“The collection reflects modern minimalism with a boho vibe, and includes yarn dyes, a mix and match of floral prints, patchwork with different laces, and geometric designs,” Lakme Fashion Week announced on Facebook.

“Each piece from the collection aims to revive the elegance that each woman exudes, and comprises of statement styles such as the contemporary suit line, organic sarees, and the geometric prints line, to mention a few.”

The fashion show was conceptualised in partnership with haircare brand Tresemme. To match the bohemian spirit of Kumar’s designs, the Tresemme team gave models ethnic-inspired braids with up-dos or sleek tresses.

FDCI x Lakme Fashion Week runs from March 16 to 21 with a mix of online and offline events. The event marks the first joint fashion week organised by two of the Indian industry’s main institutions.
