Rise Worldwide's 'All About India' showcase at FDCI x Lakme Fashion Week features Chola, Huemn, and Khanijo
Three brands known for their sustainability and innovation, Chola, Huemn, and Khanijo, presented a joint showcase with Rise Worldwide, formerly IMG International, at Fashion Design Council of India x Lakme Fashion Week.
The second edition of Rise Worldwide’s ‘All About India’ showcase shone a spotlight on three of India’s upcoming eco-friendly labels at its first phygital showcase. Models made corridors and terraces of a modern building their runway and walked to the beat of a rap about the importance of sustainable fashion by musician Agsy.
The showcase kicked off with Chola the Label, which presented androgynous, monochrome looks with experimental tailoring and maximum volume. Models wore graphic, painterly white eye make up and warrior-style up-dos. Oversized silhouettes, stripes, and button details made for a dynamic collection with hints of Japanese inspiration.
Khanijo’s collection was more colourful and featured an array of prints from elephants to hounds-tooth check to abstract designs. Notable looks included an apple green trouser and double jacket set and a black coat with a red raw-edged hem. Garments were wearable, whimsical, and had a global influence from Japanese style cherry blossom embroidery to European inspired outerwear and Indian inspired necklines.
Huemn’s collection played with textile and features large-scale, tactile embroidery and appliqué designs on sweater dresses and pull-overs. Neutral tones mixed with pops of bright green and the brand’s signature gorilla motif featured on the knees of jeans. The collection had a streetwear feel and showcased Huemn’s signature playful androgyny.
