Reliance Industries Limited’s JioMart has paused its express delivery service ‘JioMart Express’. The business has disabled downloads of the express delivery app from the Google Play store and now directs shoppers to its WhatsApp or next day delivery services.

The business has stated that JioMart Express was in fact intended to be a pilot scheme and not a permanent fixture for the business, ET Bureau reported. JioMart had first launched its quick delivery service in March, 2022 to trial delivering goods from its e-commerce store within 90 minutes to select locations.

Reliance Retail’s digital commerce in grocery continues to be multifaceted,” Reliance Retail said in a statement to the Economic Times. “A high-reach new commerce model with kirana stores, JioMart is currently present in over 350 towns, JioMart on WhatsApp and MilkBasket subscription services in over 35 towns are all initiatives that are being expanded to cater to the diverse consumer requirements. Together, these present an unmatched and multi-segment play in the digital shopping opportunity.”

Reliance Retail is the single largest investor on quick commerce business Dunzo. However, as many quick commerce players are finding it hard to become profitable, funding may not flow as freely as it has before.
