Paris-based American designer Rick Owens has opened his latest retail store in Hong Kong, on Lan Street, Central. The opening is one of many firsts for the designer. The standalone store is his first in Hong Kong and his first to open in conjunction with luxury retailer Joyce Boutique.

The 3,800 sq ft, three-storey boutique is the largest Rick Owens store to open in Asia—the brand has locations in Tokyo and Seoul—and it carries the entire men’s and women’s collections, accessories and the Rick Owens DRKSHDW line.

The store interior features sleek concrete panels, industrial elements, and a model of Owens on all fours propping up a glass table. "I've designed the store to correspond to a primal ideal I set for myself – quiet emptiness, stone and light. Walls are concrete blocks custom-molded with an angular brutalist design I saw on a wall a long time ago in Berlin and never found again. I might have dreamed it. This wall became a mythological image to me of a futuristic utopian Ruin," said Owens on the store's design.

The Hong Kong standalone store is Owens’ 9th retail location to open worldwide and the third to open in Asia. Other stores include Paris, London, Milan, New York City, and Miami.
