Renzo Rosso’s Red Circle acquires majority stake in Retrosuperfuture eyewear brand
On October 17, Rosso’s private equity firm Red Circle announced in fact the acquisition of a 51% stake in Retrosuperfuture, the Italian eyewear brand founded by Daniel Beckerman in 2007. Rosso, owner of OTB and Diesel, had already put a foot in the door by acquiring a minority stake in Retrosuperfuture in 2017.
Retrosuperfuture is renowned for its creativity and for having paved the way to a new market segment, by collaborating with top-notch Italian eyewear producers experimenting with new production and finishing techniques and with innovative materials.
Retrosuperfuture is distributed in more than 20 countries and is appreciated by celebrities like Beyoncé, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj, Dua Lipa, Kanye West, Cristiano Ronaldo and Yoko Ono, and has collaborated on special projects with Off-White, Gosha Rubchinskiy, Paco Rabanne, APC, Carhartt, Vans and, more recently, with Italian rapper Ghali.
Red Circle has an investment portfolio with equity interests in various sectors, from digital tech, for example with the H-Farm start-up incubator, to bio tech, with EcorNaturaSì, Italy’s leading producer and distributor of organic and bio-dynamic products.
