Rent the Runway acquires Go Try It On

Online dress and accessories rental site Rent the Runway has just announced that it has acquired styling app Go Try It On for an undisclosed amount.

Go Try It On is an app that allows users to share styling ideas and advice with friends, stylists and was founded by Marissa Evans, who will join the ranks of Rent the Runway as head of radical innovation. Rent the Runway launched its own social shopping platform in October, which enables customers to see outfits on other with of similar heights and weights.

"Go Try It On is a natural fit for Rent the Runway considering its user base is greatly aligned with our customers," said Jennifer Hyman , CEO and Co-founder of Rent the Runway. "Beyond that, we are looking forward to the expertise and leadership Marissa will bring to our Radical Innovation team, from which we anticipate initiatives that will revolutionize our business in the years to come."

The acquisition will give Rent the Runway access to Go Try It On’s database of 400,000 users and shoppers. The iPhone application Go Try It On will cease to exist from July 2.
