Two senior industry executives told ET Bureau that Reliance Retail has tied up with Disney in a bid to expand its offerings in the children’s section of the market. Moreover, the business will have a strong focus on fashion items featuring Disney characters like Mickey Mouse.

“This is a long-term partnership and Reliance wants to garner a larger share in children’s products, even in smaller towns,” a source told ET Bureau.

“The company will launch across formats, but the larger play will be in the fashion format, Reliance Trends, the grocery formats and Hamleys toy stores it operates in the country.”

Children’s clothing and school items such as lunch-bags and school bags are just some of the upcoming products that Reliance Retail has planned for the deal.

Reliance Retail also recently tied up with Green Gold Animation to create Chhota Bheem licences products and is harnessing the power of popular franchises to grow its private label business.
