Deco motifs, satin, draping, and colours taken from tweed fabrics characterised Dewan’s collection and femininity ruled the runway as models appeared in luxurious gowns as elegant as the city of Paris itself. Dewan said about Paris and her collection: “The city has always been welcoming for new fashion and it should remain so, I started my brand journey with Chantilly and hence I felt it fitting to feature it in my latest collection. This collection is for the discerning bride who dares to be exceptional, pushes boundaries, and values individuality. Our concept is to let the excellence of the materials speak for itself.”

Dewan claims that the small town Indian market is lucrative due to increasing brand awareness, a trend we have been seeing for some time. In this way, Dewan opines: “There’s a 40 percent growth in millionaires in India, and these are not restricted to Delhi and Mumbai. Luxury in the Indian market is closely tied to weddings and other social occasions. Growth in the industry comes primarily from the growing wedding segment in India, where Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities present an opportunity in terms of volumes.” Dewan aims to tap into this emerging market both with her bridal designs and her appearance at Mysore fashion week.

Rebecca Dewan was born in London but swiftly settled in Mumbai and from there launched her eponymous couture label. Dewan’s aim is to create more experimental fashion options for the modern Indian woman and she works to promote regional handicrafts, especially in the areas Benares, Lucknow, and Gujarat.
