“We are grateful and humbled that we have been approached by Lakmé to close the fashion week,” Singh told Vogue India. “Just making a new garment every day is success. To be able to continuously create relevant designs.”

The designer, who is also the creative director of Satya Paul, will present his latest collection under his own name on the runway on October 16 at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai. Singh’s collection, and fashion week finale, will celebrate 70 years of the Lakmé business and the vision of Simone Tata.

“The true inspiration for us honestly is Simone Tata and her vision since the 1950s,” Singh told Vogue India about his inspiration for the collection. “I find that story very compelling and I wonder what the times and emotions of that period were. When the country was so young and for me that’s a compelling thought… Lakmé’s latest launch - the Lakmé Absolute Skin Dew Serum Foundation, an amalgamation of skincare and makeup; has also been an inspiration for the collection. My aim has been to channel in the beauty narrative catalysed by Lakmé in India and contemporarise Indian classics the same way, in a fashion context.”
