Rahul Mishra presents 'The Shape of Air' at Paris Couture Week
On July 7, couturier Rahul Mishra presented ‘The Shape of Air’ at Paris Haute Couture Week with a fashion film featuring makeup looks by Asa. The collection played with proportion and glittering details.
For Mishra’s latest couture collection at the online-offline edition of Paris Couture Week, which runs until July 8, the designer presented his fall 2021/2022 couture collection with a fashion film. With a colour palette of corals, Azure blues, and pastel hues, the collection explored the element of air and mixed traditional Indian craft techniques with a modern, dream-like aesthetic.
The collection took its inspiration from Santorini in Greece and the city’s iconic buildings were appliquéd and embroidered onto dresses and tops with glittering embellishments. Mishra also played with proportion more than ever before this season with balloon shapes, sculptural ruffles, oversized sleeves, sheer outer layers, and textile fish scales.
Mishra teamed up with Indian clean beauty brand for the presentation, which created abstract looks to complement the collection’s experimental aesthetic, Asa announced in a press release. The beauty brand has launched a new eyeliner range as well as new lip and cheek tint shades among others in celebration of the collaboration.
“It is a pleasure for us, at Rahul Mishra to have joined hands with Asa beauty, for realising our vision through this campaign,” said Mishra in a press release.
“Their philosophies of clean, sustainable and environmentally conscious beauty resonate with our intentions of cultivating slow and mindful luxury. We find organic synergy with our efforts towards advocating thoughtful consumption and simplistic beauty and are honoured to present a stronger, collective voice emerging from the homeland, to our global audience.”
