Rahul Mishra presented ‘Tree of Life’ as a tactile, ethereal, and conceptual couture collection on day two of India Couture Week with 3D, nature-inspired embellishments for men and women.

Rahul Mishra’s fusion wear collection played with proportion and the idea of garments as sculptures as models walked the runway in voluminous gowns, sleek bodysuits, and classic lehengas. Menswear in the collection was every bit as bedazzled as the womenswear with floral overcoats and sheer tops.

Mishra had previously showcased parts of the Tree of Life collection at the recent Paris Haute Couture Week in France. The India Couture Week runway show took place on July 23 at an offsite location, the Fashion Design Council of India announced on Facebook. The runway show was also broadcast by Jio TV.

“Two and three dimensional embroideries articulate the first flush of nature emerging on the surface of a body, and life that grows from it,” the Fashion Design Council of India wrote about the collection on Facebook. “Intricately embellished surfaces articulate scenes from dense forests with ancient architectural remains and vegetation in modern day silhouettes. A fresh application for the brand, metallics add another dimension to the brand’s signature hand craft.”

The Fashion Design Council of India is celebrating 15 years of India Couture Week this season and has chosen 13 designers to showcase their latest collections at the Taj Palace in New Delhi along with a number of offsite locations from July 22 to 31. The fashion week is sponsored by Lotus Makeup and its jewellery partner is Archana Aggarwal Timeless Jewellery.
