The “Parizaad Collection” by Rahul Mishra will show Thursday July 27 at India Couture Week (ICW) at the Taj Palace. As with any couture week collection, wedding wear will feature heavily but this season Mishra has decided to push himself to make bridal wear that is not only comfortable to wear, but can also be washed and worn again.

Mishra took architecture as his inspiration this season and stated, “The collection took over six months of research.” Along with more traditional couture fabrics, Mishra said, “A few pieces are made in cotton and the yarn is of a very different kind, made in Japan.” When asked for his motivation for pioneering washable couture, Mishra explained that, “Any garment which gets more use out of it, is more sustainable” and that is important for both the modern customer and the environment. Sustainability is becoming more and more popular in retail and through Mishra’s collection it looks set to break into the couture world too.

Rahul Mishra launched his eponymous label in Mumbai in 2008 and that year MTV India awarded him MTV Youth Icon of the Year. Mishra won the International Woolmark Prize in 2014 at Milan fashion week and became the first Indian to have done so. Mishra debuted at Paris fashion week in 2015 spring/summer and has continued to show there. Mishra’s collections are available both internationally in America, France, and Dubai among other countries and in India both online and in a selection of boutiques as well as in Mishra’s New Delhi flagship store.
