On January 28, Mishra presented his second fashion film for Paris Couture Week and shared the video on his brand’s social media including Facebook. The ethereal film intersperses shots of models wearing Mishra’s highly detailed garments, covered with luxuriously embellished fungal forms with shots of the couture being created in the brand’s workshop.

Mishra’s inspiration for the collection was mushrooms, brought about by his lockdown research into Sir David Attenborough and Chernobyl, Vogue India reported. As mushrooms have been long before humanity, they will most likely be around for long after we become extinct, posited Mishra.

The film was shot by Story Loom Films and styled by Priyanka Yadav. Models Laura Gavry, Mansi, and Nitin Baranwal modelled the collection, along with footwear by Oceedee Shoes, at the Kishangarh Marble Dumpyard in Rajasthan.

The Dawn features Mishra’s signature opulent and experimental embroidery and gowns, dresses, and coats are covered with organically shaped clusters of mushrooms in neutral hues, oranges, or shades of blue. By using traditional Indian embroidery techniques to create modern, tactile forms, Mishra created a collection that stands out for its combination of heritage and innovation.
