RIL promises to supply essential goods, produce face masks, has set up hospital

Reliance Industries Limited announced a range of measures to combat coronavirus including keeping essential goods well-stocked in its stores, producing face masks, and setting up a specialist hospital in Mumbai.

 
“RIL has deployed the combined strengths of Reliance Foundation, Reliance Retail, Jio, Reliance Life Sciences, Reliance Industries, and all the 600,000 members of the Reliance Family on this action plan against Covid-19," the business said in a statement. 
 
Reliance Industries’ retail arm Reliance Retail will ensure that consumers can access ample essential goods in its stores, the business said in a statement, ET Retail reported. The business has a network of 736 grocery stores across India and it will also keep them open until later where possible and arrange home delivery options for senior citizens.

Reliance has also augmented its production capacity and aims to manufacture 100,000 face masks per day. The business will also manufacture a range of personal protective equipment, including clothing for health workers. 
 
Mukesh Ambani’s business also announced that it has set up India’s first Covid-19 specialist hospital in Mumbai, located in Maharashtra which has India’s highest number of confirmed coronavirus cases.

The Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital was built at the Seven Hills Hospital in Mumbai in collaboration with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, Reliance said in a statement. The centre has 100 beds for coronavirus patients. 
 
“This first-of-its-kind-in-India centre is fully funded by Reliance Foundation and includes a negative pressure room that helps in preventing cross-contamination and helps control infection,” the business said in a statement, Bloomberg reported.

“All beds are equipped with the required infrastructure, biomedical equipment such as ventilators, pacemakers, dialysis machine and patient monitoring devices.”
