Purvi Doshi to show khadi collection at New York Fashion Week

On September 7, the designer Purvi Doshi will show a khadi collection at the upcoming New York Fashion Week featuring her eco-friendly, handwoven designs.

Doshi has previously shown her collections multiple times at Lakmé Fashion Week and has also shown at Dhaka Fashion Week but this will be her first foray into New York Fashion Week. Doshi’s collection for Spring / Summer 2018 will feature handwoven garments dyed with natural processes in Doshi’s signature bright hues. The designer will be showing her contemporary line at the fashion week which features both western and traditional inspired garments.

Doshi said about her upcoming fashion show: “I’m very happy to be a part of New York Fashion Week 2017. Sustainability at its root and khadi in its soul, each garment is made in India, with utmost care and love.” Moreover, Doshi went on to say: “I hope to bring a change by making artisans in charge of their own lives and give fashion the slow, steadfast care its makers deserve.”

Purvi Doshi hails from Ahmadabad and is a self-taught designer. Doshi’s eponymous brand has a sustainable focus and is both eco-friendly and cruelty free. Doshi’s collections are available on the brand’s own e-commerce store as well as on multi- brand sites such as Pernia’s Pop-up Shop.
