Das has held training programmes for young women in the Rayagada, Kendrapda, and Jagatsinghpur districts of Odisha to teach them how to create bamboo jewellery, the Times of India reported. By learning to make eco-friendly jewellery for Das' 'Ecodarsini' brand, the rural women will be able to gain a new income stream, according to Das.

“I started this initiative with almost zero investment,” Das told TNN. “Initially I used to make them for me and people loved it. All my jewellery are unique, chemical free, eco-friendly processing of bamboo by applying neem, karanja and turmeric in my kitchen.”

Das conducted a series of experiments at home during the pandemic to find new ways of making bamboo into jewellery which led her to develop her training programme. “I also started experimenting with making beads from stone apple, neem and tulsi plant along with bamboo as a base material,” said Das.

Das is planning an exhibition to showcase bamboo jewellery and raise awareness about her project. This should help to create more employment opportunities for women in Odisha and enable Das to reach more customers.
