A private exhibition of the late Mina Krishnan’s extensive collection of Issey Miyake clothing has launched in Mumbai. The exhibition is raising funds for charity Cry.

The clothing exhibition is titled ‘Clothes that changed the world: Mina Krishnan's collection of Issey Miyake’ and runs at venue 47-A Khotachiwadi in Mumbai, Vogue India reported. The event concludes on March 20 and all proceeds from the sale will go to Cry.
The exhibition features 70 pieces from Krishnan’s collection, all of which have been pre-sold. Krishnan was an entrepreneur and long-term patron of Japanese designer Miyake’s designs. Both Miyake and Krishnan passed away last year and the retrospective also celebrates both of their lives with a charitable focus.
“Miyake clothes spoke to her at many different levels,” Mina Krishnan’s husband Mohan Krishnan told Vogue India. “Miyake was not just clothing; it was also a way of life. Comfortable, audacious, fun and filled with joy. Day wear, evening wear, anytime was Miyake time for her.”
Cry, an acronym of ‘Child Rights and You’ is a charity which seeks to promote children’s rights and is an organisation which Krishnan supported for decades during her lifetime. “Though the show is about Miyake and his design work, it does reference Mina and her life,” said the show’s creator Batliboi. “Mina was rooted in traditional Indian culture while also embracing ideas from Zen Buddhism and being enchanted by Miyake’s design philosophy. These clothes represent three decades of Mina collecting Miyake which makes her the de facto curator and we think that the viewer will feel her quiet presence throughout the show.”
