Puri closed day one of Bangalore Fashion Week at the Oterra Bangalore Hotel with an opulent festive wear collection. For the upcoming season, Puri created a collection of embellished kaftans and flowing traditional wear featuring Islamic patterns and rich hues.

“In the ancient alleys of Istanbul’s Beyoglu district, off the Golden Horn that separated the old city from the new, lived an ensemble of women with no name, other than what they were frequently called out on the streets by passers by, Pera Bella,” wrote Puri on her social media about her inspiration for the collection.

“These women spent their nights in the shadows of slums feeding the poorest gypsies in the town, and their evenings mingling with rich European travellers…. Great mysteries surrounded the lives that the ladies of Perra Bella lived… and when they were together, they were a force to be reckoned with.”

Bangalore Fashion Week runs from August 29 to September 1. This season, the fashion week celebrated its 21st edition and eleventh year. The fashion week is sponsored by Blenders Pride, Ultra, Alturas G4, and Wear.Style.

Pria Kataaria Puri launched her eponymous brand in 1990 after studying fashion design in San Francisco. The brand retails internationally and across India in multi-brand boutiques.
