Jewelley designer and gemologist Pooja Vaswani has launched an exhibition titled “A Tribute to Kashi” at The Lalit Hotel in New Delhi to showcase and preserve Banaras’ “Gulabi Meenakari” (pink enamel) jewellery art.

As part of her work to preserve Gulabi Meenakari jewellery, Vaswani has curated a selection of pendants, rings, and earrings that showcase the brightly coloured work, according to the event’s press release. The exhibition launched on November 25 and runs until December 10 at Vaswani’s store Pratharv Jewels which is located in The Lalit’s shopping arcade.

A Tribute to Kashi features intricately designed devotional and decorative jewellery pieces made in the Banarasi tradition and embellished with diamonds. Vaswani hopes that the exhibition will enthuse shoppers to buy Gulabi Meenakari to stop the tradition from going extinct.

“I really wanted to help the artists and that was also the reason why we have kept the design to a minimum,” Vaswani told the Morning Standard about the collection. “Using more diamonds in the jewellery will make the pieces more expensive. And keeping in mind the current market situation, many don’t prefer to spend so much. Thus the whole collection is lightweight, pocket friendly, and unique.”

Pooja Vaswani launced Pratharv Jewelz 16 years ago after studying jewellery design, gemmology, and diamonds. The brand retails a range of women’s fine jewellery in both traditional and modern styles.
