PM Modi launches PM Vishwakarma Yojna for artisans
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took the occasion of Vishwakarma Jayanti on September 17 to launch the ‘PM Vishwakarma Yojna (Scheme)’. Designed to support artisans across India, the scheme is part of the government’s plan to uplift workers and increase domestic production across a range of industries.
The PM Vishwakarma Scheme launch comprised a PM Vishwakarma logo, tagline, and portal, which is designed for artisans and craftspeople, the Gem and Jewellery Export Promotion Council announced on its website. PM Modi announced the launch while thanking Shramiks and Vishwakarmas for their contributions to the construction of the India International Convention and Expo Centre (Yashobhoomi).
“Today I dedicate 'Yashobhoomi' to every worker of the country, to every Vishwakarma”, said PM Modi on Sunday, the GJEPC reported. “The Viksit Bharat of today is crafting a new identity for itself in every sector.” Modi referred to the ‘Bharat Mandapam’ which has become a topic of global discussion.
“The message from Yashobhoomi is loud and clear,” said Modi. “Any event that takes place here will attain success and fame.”
The development is designed to act as a vibrant cultural hub which will connect artisans and their products with global markets. Minister of Commerce and Industry Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, and Textiles Piyush Goyal also took the occasion to speak about the new PM Vishwakarma Scheme and said that the initiative is PM Modi’s recognition of the hard work of India’s artisans and represents a vow to honour and strengthen them.
