On Wednesday, Pernia’s Pop-Up Studio Bandra will showcase Vaishali S.’s latest collection fresh from the runway at Lotus Makeup India Fashion Week. The showcase will promote Khun handloom weaves which the brand rediscovered for its latest collection.

Khun, also called Khana, weaves originate from Maharashtra and north Karnataka and were originally used to make saree blouses. Vaishali S. has used the textile for tailored dresses and on sheer jacket lapels. The collection also features sheer sarees with asymmetrical jackets, and formal coats and rustic embroidery that resembles sheepskin. Preppy Western wear influences were rendered in Indian textiles to create a fusion effect and the collection mixes classic elegance with deconstructed elements.

The free event is part of Pernia’s Pop-Up Studio’s pop-up schedule. The multi-brand online-offline retailer has hosted a range of brands this season for exclusive collection showcases at both its Bandra and Juhu Mumbai stores.

Pernia’s Pop-Up Studio is the brick-and-mortar retail chain of Pernia’s Pop-Up Shop. Founded by Pernia Qureshi and acquired by Purple Style Labs last year, the business is expanding across India with an omni-channel approach and plans to open a store in London, UK.
