The runway show began with designs by students at Pearl Academy, Delhi. Radhika Kulwal showcased voluminous white ensembles, giving the air of a funeral, with oversized white beads and deconstructed shapes. Sejal Chavan from School of Fashion Technology played with puffer silhouettes for an Avant Garde take on streetwear. Notable garments included jackets with full wings made from puffer-jacket fabric and in sweeping colour gradients.

The runway show also featured designs by students at Binus University, FAD International Academy, Nuova Accademia Di Belle Arti, and Manchester Fashion Institute among others. The showcase was energetic, diverse, and innovative, giving a peek at the future of fashion across the globe.

“FDCI presented a first of its kind fashion collaboration between Pearl Academy and Graduate Fashion Week International,” the FDCI announced on Facebook ahead of the showcase’s online broadcast. “Featuring collections from exceptionally talented students across the top 27 fashion design schools from around the world, the showcase will embrace diversity whilst decentralising fashion.”

Lakme Fashion Week in partnership with the FDCI ran from October 12 to 16 at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai. The fashion week was sponsored by Nexa and included a Designer Stockroom business-to-customer sale event, design contests, and sustainable fashion spotlight.
