Digital payments player PayU has appointed Shantanu Preetam as its chief technology officer. Preetam will lead the technology team at PayU and will be responsible for leading tech innovations and engineering.
Prior to joining PayU, Preetam worked with Walmart building its core e-commerce systems and facilitating growth through technology.
India is an important high-growth market for PayU, which is why the company is strengthening its leadership team, as it looks to gain a larger market share of the booming digital payments market in India.
Commenting on his appointment, Anirban Mukherjee, CEO of PayU India, in a statement said: “One of our key focus areas going forward for PayU is omni-channel solutions, to enable merchants to offer flexible offline-to-online solutions and we are confident [Preetam] will play an integral part in achieving our vision to build a full-fintech ecosystem, offering a set of inter-related services to meet all the financial needs of consumers and merchants on a single platform.”
Preetam has more than 23 years of experience in building software products and driving a digital transformation strategy at different companies. PayU claims to have a merchant base of over 3.5 lakh in the country.
