Digital payments and e-commerce business Paytm has asked its customers to be wary of fraudulent messages asking for information following a rising number of complaints. The business has also partnered with Twitter.

Paytm’s founder Vijay Shekhar Sharma took to Twitter to warn customers about potential fraud. “Pls [please] don’t trust any SMS sent on blocking your Paytm account or suggestion to do a KYC. These are fraudsters…” Sharma tweeted on November 19.

“These or some SMS with some lucky draw are examples of fraudsters attempting to get your details,” tweeted Sharma later that evening. “Don’t fall for them.” The business has seen increased fraud complaints over the past three months, ET Bureau reported, stating that the issue is widespread.

Paytm has also partnered with Twitter to add content to its digital payments app inbox with the aim of keeping customers on the platform. The new feature shares trending news and astrology among other features.

“Consumers will be able to check different issues that are trending on Twitter, news, events and others; once they click on a specific element, it will take them to a web view of the link,” Paytm’s vice president Siddharth Pandey told ET Bureau.
