Paytm temporarily closes offices after employee tests positive for coronavirus

Digital payments business and e-commerce platform Paytm has temporarily closed its Gurugram and Noida offices after an employee tested positive for coronavirus, but assures business will continue as usual.

Paytm’s Gurugram and Noida offices will remain closed for the next few days, the business announced on Wednesday. Paytm is currently sanitising its offices after an employee tested positive for coronavirus, after returning from a trip to Italy, ET Online reported. 
 
“One of our colleagues based out of Gurgaon office who recently returned from Italy post a vacation has sadly been tested positive for coronavirus,” said a spokesperson for Paytm, ET Online reported.

“He is receiving appropriate treatment and we are extending complete support to his family. As a precautionary measure, we have suggested his team members to get health tests done immediately. We have also advised all our colleagues to work from home for a couple of days while we get our offices sanitised.”
 
Paytm assured its customers that “daily operations and Paytm services will continue as usual,” despite the office closures.

Paytm has one office in Gurugram and five in Noida. The total number of coronavirus cases confirmed in India stood at 28 on Wednesday.
