Paytm had entered the annual festive sales battle last year with a similar investment of Rs 501 crore on the sale event to take on e-commerce biggies like Flipkart and Amazon.

Paytm had managed to acquire 5 million new users during their four-day sale event last season and managed to generate sales worth $500 million.

"Our team has been engaged in the preparation of this sale for the past 3 months where they have partnered with top brands, meticulously planned and scaled operations while building logistics to give users the best shopping experience and best offers on a wide range of products," in a statement said Amit Sinha, chief operating officer of Paytm Mall.

Paytm Mall's Maha Cashback Sale will be held from October 9-15. Patym Mall is currently the third biggest player in India's rapidly-growing online retail space.
