Womenswear brand Payal Pratap mixed prints and presented retro opulence at its first-ever phygital presentation for the Fashion Design Council of India x Lakme Fashion Week on March 18.

Mixed prints and rich tones at Payal Pratap's 'View With A Room' - Lakme Fashion Week- Facebook

Payal Pratap’s latest collection, titled ‘View With A Room’, saw models wander about a modern, white room featuring nothing but minimal furniture and large pictures of landscapes. The simple interior was brought to life as models wearing an array of prints and textures stared to move around and their layered ensembles swayed gracefully.

Checks, large-print florals with beaded details, stripes in deep jewel tones, and more dainty florals all mixed together to create an eclectic look. However, the collection’s varied yet cohesive colour palette ensured a sense of continuity and calm despite the busy prints.

The collection was designed to herald, “the oncoming of a new dawn,” Lakme Fashion Week announced on Facebook.

“The collection promotes stepping out of one's confines, and attempts to offer a peep into what lies ahead. It boasts of a rich colour palette comprising of shades of plum, deep purple, midnight navy, fuchsia, ruby, petrol and coffee, auburn autumn and ochre.”

Accessories added an extra, western wear style dimension to saree dresses with checked scarves and opaque tights. Loose blazers, embroidery, and smocking details also made an appearance.

The FDCI x Lakme Fashion Week phygital joint edition runs from March 16 to 21 and features a range of fashion films and runway presentation. Sponsors include Rise Worldwide and Nexa.
